KRATER is the intimately explosive culmination of two musicians with distinct ethnic, social, and artistic backgrounds meeting and creating together. In lively communication, they deconstruct and revive their creative ideas and musical language.
The duo understands itself mainly as an improvising ensemble. They push the sounds of their acoustic instruments with the use of dierent electronics and micing techniques and play with establishing and breaking time constantly. Their 2025 program NO/BODY_27 is a ~40 min. piece written for freely improvising musicians.
Composed chaos and meticulously arranged improvisation create an emotional swirl of fleeting moments and demand clarity and attention from performer and audience alike.
Daniel Neumann (drums, electronics) is an Austrian drummer and composer based in Vienna (AT). His approach to music is driven by a constant need to explore and develop the sound of his drums. While his main focus as a composer and performer lies in contemporary Jazz Music, he is active in a multitude of ensembles ranging from Pop to Jazz.
Additionally, Daniel’s sound research explores different ways to manipulate the sound of the acoustic drumset with effect pedals, resonators, and other electronics.
He currently studies Jazzdrums at the ABPU in Linz and organizes Sessions and Concerts in Upper Austria.
Ferran Gorrea (sax, electronics) is a Spanish musician, saxophonist, and improviser based in Zurich (CH).
